ICYMI: Grassley Joins Real Clear Politics to Discuss ‘Disturbing Political Bias’ at Biden’s DOJ and FBI

WASHINGTON – Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) joined the RealClearPolitics podcast to discuss his oversight exposing the Biden Justice Department’s (DOJ) targeting of President Donald Trump and his associates, including records showing Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents planning and celebrating the indictment of Trump advisor Peter Navarro in 2022.

Grassley also highlighted a declassified FBI analysis he released proving Fusion GPS contractor Nellie Ohr lied to Congress but was never prosecuted by the Biden DOJ for her felonies.

Video and excerpts of Grassley's remarks follow.

On the FBI’s Efforts to Indict Navarro:

“[I]f I had to tell you, the one person that seemed to be at the beginning of it and through it all is a special agent by the name of Timothy Thibault. And, when he heard that Peter Navarro was going to be [charged], he's quoted on email [writing], ‘Wow. How great.’ … His work … actually [carried] out the ultimate of political weaponization, which ended up being the four-month imprisonment of Peter Navarro, completely in violation of any person's rights when the whole government goes after you and concocts a case against you just because they don't like you politically.”

On Disgraced FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Timothy Thibault:

“He was very, very liberal and very outspoken in these views, something that an FBI agent should never be proud of doing. And it was that exposure that told me this guy is not very diligent about impartiality. And I talked to the FBI director about it, and [Thibault] was removed, and soon, out of the FBI. But just think of all the damage he did before he got there. And in one particular case, he laid the groundwork for what became one of Jack Smith's cases against President Trump, as one example.”

On Fusion GPS Contractor Nellie Ohr’s Lies to Congress:

“She's getting off scot-free, but she lied before Congress in [several] instances … a lie is a lie. And so, we got this information from classified FBI analysis confirming that...Nellie Ohr lied to Congress about her role in advancing the Crossfire Hurricane investigation, and as I've said before, [the FBI] failed to prosecute her. [She] can't be prosecuted now [because of the statute of limitations], even though we know that she lied.

“So, I asked Director Patel to declassify those documents. He did exactly that... [T]he FBI and the DOJ’s failure to hold [Ohr] accountable for committing felonies demonstrates disturbing political bias at the agency that hopefully now is behind us, now that we have a guy like Patel in and … Pam [Bondi] running the Justice Department.”
