Durbin Meets with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Jaddou

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL), Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, met with Ur Mendoza Jaddou, Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). During the meeting, Durbin discussed a broad range of issues and initiatives aimed at processing increasing asylum caseloads, reducing immigration backlogs, and supporting communities that receive migrants.

“I appreciated sitting down with Director Jaddou today to discuss how we can bolster our country’s immigration and refugee systems. Under her leadership, USCIS has taken significant steps to reduce backlogs, digitize applications, and naturalize one million new citizens. Whether they are working on our farms or staffing our nation’s hospitals, immigrants are central to our country and our economy. I thank Director Jaddou for her work, and I look forward to continuing to work with her, along with my colleagues, to bolster our immigration system,” said Durbin.
