Senate Confirms Julie Rikelman to the U.S. Court Of Appeals for the First Circuit
Under the leadership of Chair Durbin, the Senate has confirmed 135 judges to lifetime appointments on the federal bench during the Biden administration
WASHINGTON – Today, the U.S. Senate confirmed Julie Rikelman to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL), Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, released the following statement regarding Ms. Rikelman’s confirmation:
“Julie Rikelman is a highly skilled litigator who has almost 25 years of experience in private practice, as in-house counsel, and in public interest law. She’s worked on a wide range of matters at both the trial and appellate level, including arguing two appeals before the U.S. Supreme Court. Her perspective and experience as a skilled trial attorney and appellate practitioner have prepared her to serve on day one.
“I congratulate Ms. Rikelman on becoming the thirty-fifth Circuit Court judge confirmed under President Biden, and the latest example of the Senate Judiciary Committee advancing nominees who will ensure a fair justice system for all and represent the diversity of America.”
On February 9, 2023, Ms. Rikelman advanced out of the Judiciary Committee with a vote of 11-10.
Today’s confirmation continues the Committee’s work filling judicial vacancies with highly qualified, diverse candidates who help ensure the fair and impartial administration of the American justice system.
