Feinstein Statement on Tech Antitrust Actions
Washington—Senate Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today released the following statement on upcoming hearings related to the tech industry:
“The tech industry is a vital driver of our economy and innovation. However, with internet and social media advancements come challenges related to how data is used, privacy, criminal activity and hate speech.
“For tech companies, there’s an essential need to balance these innovations with the challenges they bring. Congress must examine how consumer data is treated, ensure that consumers have control of their privacy and fight the spread of criminal activity and hate speech. That’s why I’m pleased the House and Senate Judiciary Committees have begun holding hearings on these and related issues.
“It’s important, however, that the focus be broader than just a few companies. We should examine industrywide practices and enforcement improvements that benefit the American public as a whole. I look forward to that process moving forward.”
