Judiciary Committee Advances Three U.S. Attorneys, One U.S. Marshal

WASHINGTON – The Senate Judiciary Committee today advanced the nominations of Peter D. Leary, to be United States Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia; McLain J. Schneider, to be United States Attorney for the District of North Dakota; and Leigha Simonton, to be United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, by voice vote.

The Committee also advanced David Davis, nominated to be United States Marshal for the Southern District of Illinois, by voice vote.

Ahead of the votes, U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL), Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, spoke to the qualifications of today’s Southern District of Illinois nominee:

“[David Davis] was recommended by the screening committee that Senator Duckworth and I established. That committee has done an outstanding job in recommending Mr. Davis and I want to thank all of the committee members for their hard work—retired federal Judge Pat Murphy, who chairs the committee… along with Ebony Huddleston, Judge Bruce Stewart, Steve Stone, and Lois Wood.”

“I want to thank Mr. Davis for his continued willingness to serve, and I look forward to supporting his nomination.”
