Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives - Andrew L. Traver

President Obama nominated Andrew L. Traver to be the Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives on November 17, 2010. On December 22, 2010, the nomination was returned to the President under the provisions of Senate Rule XXXI, paragraph 6 of the Standing Rules of the Senate. On January 5, 2011, President Obama again nominated Andrew Traver to be the Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. On January 3, 2013 the nomination was once again returned to the President under the provisions of Senate Rule XXXI, paragraph 6 of the Standing Rules of the Senate.

Did You Know?  In 1937, President Franklin D. Roosevelt proposed the Judiciary Reorganization Bill to empower the President to appoint an additional justice for every sitting justice over the age of 70 and one half years.  The members of the Judiciary Committee strongly opposed Roosevelt's proposal.
